Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Q: Are you certified, licensed, and insured?
A: Yes, our team is certified by the American Foot Care Association (AFCA), and we are fully licensed and insured in the state of California.
Q: Do you accept insurance, such as Medicare?
A: Payment for our services is due at the time of service as an out-of-pocket expense. We do not bill Medicare or any other insurance provider. Please note that most insurance plans do not cover routine foot care unless it is medically necessary.
Q: What should I expect during my visit?
A: Your appointment begins with a brief review of your medical history and an informed consent process, followed by a discussion of your foot care concerns and goals. We then provide a session (up to 30 minutes) that includes nail trimming, filing, and thinning of overly thickened toenails. Additional services such as corn and callus reduction may be offered as needed. At the end of your visit, we will share any further recommendations.
Q: Do I still need to see a podiatrist?
A: Our services are designed for basic foot care and do not replace the need for a podiatrist or your primary healthcare provider. If we encounter a condition beyond our scope, we will advise you to consult with a podiatrist.
Q: How do you ensure equipment cleanliness?
A: We follow strict disinfection protocols using high-level disinfectants in line with CDC guidelines. We also utilize disposable supplies whenever necessary to maintain the highest level of hygiene.
Q: Is foot care safe for first-time clients?
A: Absolutely. Our foot care nurses are experienced medical professionals trained to provide safe, effective care that traditional nail salons do not offer. We also assess your overall foot health and can make appropriate referrals if needed.
Q: Can you treat thickened toenails?
A: Yes, we take the necessary precautions to safely reduce the thickness of toenails and improve your foot comfort.
Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: We kindly ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This helps us manage our schedule effectively and accommodate all our clients.
Q: Do you offer fingernail trimming?
A: Yes, fingernail trimming is available as an add-on service. Please mention your interest when booking your appointment.
Q: How should I prepare my feet for my appointment?
A: Please ensure your feet are washed and in a clean, hygienic condition before your visit. We do not offer pedicure services such as soaking, polishing, or massages.
Q: How does your service differ from a podiatrist's?
A: We focus on routine, basic foot care to help maintain overall foot health. Podiatrists diagnose and treat complex medical conditions and perform surgical procedures. Our service is complementary, addressing everyday care needs and referring you to a podiatrist when necessary.
Q: How often should I schedule a foot care appointment?
A: For routine maintenance, we generally recommend scheduling an appointment every 4-6 weeks. However, the ideal frequency depends on your personal foot health and specific needs. Our team will advise you on the best schedule during your visit.
Q: What should I do if I experience discomfort or complications after my appointment?
A: If you notice any unusual pain, signs of infection, or other concerns following your treatment, please contact us immediately. We can offer guidance and determine whether a follow-up visit is necessary.
Q: Will I receive aftercare instructions?
A: Yes, at the end of your appointment we provide personalized aftercare instructions to help maintain your foot health. These guidelines are designed to keep your feet comfortable and reduce the risk of complications.
Q: How do you protect my privacy and confidentiality?
A: We take your privacy very seriously. All personal and medical information is kept confidential and handled in compliance with HIPAA and other applicable privacy regulations.
Q: Are there any conditions that might prevent me from receiving basic foot care services?
A: Our services are designed to be safe for most clients. During your initial assessment, we review your medical history to ensure that the treatment is appropriate for you. If we identify any conditions that require specialized care, we will recommend that you consult your primary healthcare provider or a podiatrist.
