FAQs

Are you certified and licensed?

Yes, we are certified with the American Foot Care Association (AFCA). We are also licensed and insured within the state of California.

Do you take insurance such as medicare?

Payment for services is due at time of service and is considered an out-of-pocket expense. We do not bill Medicare or any insurance company. Most insurances do not cover routine foot care unless medically necessary, which we unfortunately do not have control over.

What to expect during our visit?

We are here to provide "basic foot care" needs. We will review a brief medical history, obtain an informed consent and discuss your foot care concerns and goals. Followed by a session up to 30 minutes which includes cutting, filing, thinning of the overly thickened toenails. If needed, services such as: corn and callus reduction may be provided. At the conclusion of your visit, we will make any recommendations we see necessary.

Do I still need to see a podiatrist?

While our team includes a Nurse Practitioner, this visit does not replace a need for a Podiatrist or a Medical Provider, we instead work collaboratively in understanding practice protocols and procedures for each client. Should a client present with a condition that is not within the scope of practice of a foot care nurse, the client will be notified and recommended to see a podiatrist.

Do you clean your equipment?

We clean all of our equipment and materials with a high level disinfectant per Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, and maintain health precautions on all visits, and use disposable supplies as necessary.

I have never done this before is it safe?

As foot care nurses, it is our mission to provide safe and appropriate foot care that is beneficial to our clients. As medical professionals we provide services to our clientele that traditional nail salons are not trained to do. In addition to the services previously mentioned, we can assess more thoroughly and relate any pertinent medical history to assist with proper foot care and/or make the proper referral.

If I have thick nails do you see me?

Yes we do, we take precautions and can reduce the thickness of toenails to optimize relief.

Does RNscrub Foot Care have liability insurance?

Yes, we are a licensed business, carrying extensive liability insurance.

What is the policy to cancel or change an appointment?

We strive to keep our clientele happy by keeping up with their scheduled time. In the event that a cancellation needs to ensue, please contact us no later than 24hrs prior to the appointment.

Does your service provide fingernail trimming?

It is an add on service that can be provided at the time of booking.

Do the feet need to be soaked and cleaned before the appointment?

Yes, please ensure your feet are washed and in hygienic condition prior to your visit as we do not offer pedicure services- no soaks, polishes, or massages.

What is the difference between you vs. a Podiatrist?

We like to look at it this way, we are medical professionals that like to help in a different aspect of client care. We fill in the gaps of basic foot care whereas Podiatrists are able to focus on diagnosing and treating conditions of the foot & ankle. Podiatrists also focus on surgical procedures and may not have enough time to perform basic and routine foot care, though some may offer basic nail trimming, many do not look at it as a medical procedure. It is best to consult your provider first to see if foot care services are covered by insurance and/or if it is there is a need for medical treatment in the first place. We are able to make recommendations for further medical attention if we deem it as necessary.
